Every year, the Nuit des Musées (Night of the Museums ) gives us the chance to rediscover our heritage through a program of exceptional nocturnes, free visits and original events. Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region take advantage of this opportunity to unveil its secrets. Don't miss the next date on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, the Shoah Memorial is a museum and place dedicated to the memory of the genocide of Jews during the Second World War. This museum ofhistory brings together numerous testimonies, archives, photographs, texts, videos and audio recordings, explaining the history of the Jews in France, the rise of Nazism and the crimes perpetrated during the war years.

An educational, child-friendly introduction to the subject, and some upsetting elements for adults: this museum is a place open to all. So why not find out what's in store for you on Museum Night?

  • Interpretation of Albert Cohen's "Le Livre de ma mère" by Patrick Timsit
    Saturday, May 18, 9:00 pm

For over 30 years, Patrick Timsit has been working on his interpretation of Albert Cohen's 1954 story.
Season after season, he has read, reread, annotated and brooded over this work for which he has developed a real passion. A work which, as he puts it, is addressed directly to us, the "sons of living mothers".
" No son really knows that his mother will die, and all sons are angry and impatient with their mothers, the fools so soon punished", writes Albert Cohen in the final pages.
Texts read by Patrick Timsit, actor, accompanied by Nicolas Errera, composer of the original music, Stéfane Goldman, guitar, and Sarah Jacob, cello.

So we'll see you at the Shoah Memorial for the 20th Nuit des Musées, folks?
