The Paris 2024 Olympic Games are coming! Seine-et-Marne (77) is getting ready to welcome the Olympic flame this Saturday, July 20, 2024, for a festive day packed with entertainment and cultural discoveries. Between historical heritage and natural sites, discover the torch's route, which highlights the treasures of this département.
Seine-et-Marne, like all the other departments in the Paris region, has planned a rich program of discoveries and events for the relay of the Olympic flame in its territory.
This Saturday, July 20, the route of the flame begins in Fontainebleau, showcasing the prestigious Château de Fontainebleau, the former royal residence, and its park, designated a biosphere reserve byUNESCO.
The Flame will continue its journey to Pontault-Combault, the department's fourth largest city, before criss-crossing the towns of Lagny-sur-Marne and Torcy. It will make a stopover in Melun, then in Vaires-sur-Marne, where it will illuminate the nautical base, the venue for future Olympic canoeing androwing competitions.
The route continues to Chelles, passing through the medieval town of Provins. It will stop near the Caesar tower and ramparts, where a variety of activities will transport us into a veritable time machine. The medieval town of Provins will, as you'd expect, be one of the highlights, with events planned to transport us back in time, thanks to its historic towers and ramparts.
The day ends in Meaux, where you can enjoy the Pâtis park and taste the famous Brie de Meaux. The Musée de la Grande Guerre will also offer opportunities for cultural discovery. The flame will travel along the quays to the island before crossing the Pont Foch. The day will end with a ceremony at the Georges Tauziet sports complex, bringing the Olympic Flame's journey through Seine-et-Marne to a festive close. Spectacle, musical atmosphere, entertainment and a DJ evening are on the program for the final venue.

In Seine-et-Marne, six residents have been chosen by the Département to carry the illustrious Olympic Flame. These individuals, from diverse backgrounds such as top-level sport, emergency services and the public sector, share a common passion for sport and Olympic values.
Margot Boulet is a dedicated athlete for the disabled. A rower, she shone at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, where she won a bronze medal. Her commitment to sport and exceptional performances make her an ideal ambassador to carry the Olympic flame.
Thomas Ferreira excels in several sporting disciplines, including table tennis, archery and diving. His versatility has earned him three selections at the Jeux Nationaux de l'Avenir Handisport, making him a model of perseverance and skill in the world of adapted sport.
Youssef Hocine is a fencing instructor at the Melun Fencing Club. With four world medals to his credit and two Olympic appearances (1988 and 1992), Youssef embodies excellence and experience at the highest level, inspiring young fencers to follow in his footsteps.
Corporal Pauline stands out for her crucial role as a firefighter in Seine-et-Marne. Her daily commitment to the safety and well-being of citizens reflects the values of courage and dedication, essential in both public service and sport.
Élodie Lollierou works for the Département de Seine-et-Marne and is also a keen road cyclist, where she won the title of champion. Her dual role as public servant and athlete underlines the importance of sport as a vehicle for well-being and excellence.
Étienne Morin contributes as a volunteer to the Lagny-sur-Marne rowing club. He takes an active part in disabled rowing competitions, proving that sport is also a vehicle for solidarity and community involvement.
Each and every one of them, through their careers and achievements, embodies the values of Olympism and shows that the sporting spirit can truly lead to extraordinary achievements. They are a source of inspiration to us all, and emblematic figures for Seine-et-Marne during this Olympic period.
The torch relayroute in Seine-et-Marne promises to be a memorable event. So we're getting ready all over the department to set up along the route and support the torchbearers in what promises to be an exceptional atmosphere. Of course, we won't be missing the festive closing ceremony in Meaux (Brie de Meaux is a must!).
