As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games approach, Seine-Saint-Denis is gearing up to play a key role in the festivities. The département will host the Olympic torch relay, which will pass through many of its towns and cities.

Detailed route of the Olympic flame

On July 25, 2024, the Olympic flame will begin its journey through Seine-Saint-Denis, visiting iconic locations and passing through 21 towns in the département. This route will highlight areas often less exposed to the international spotlight, while celebrating the Olympic spirit of solidarity and diversity.

The flame will be welcomed at emblematic sites such as the Basilique de Saint-Denis, the Archives Nationales in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine, the Mémorial de la Shoah in Drancy, the Arènes de Picasso in Noisy-le-Grand, and the Canal de l'Ourcq. The Parc départemental Georges-Valbon in La Courneuve will host a major celebration on the eve of the opening ceremony, inaugurating the official site of the Games in Seine-Saint-Denis.

Paralympic Flame

On August 27, 2024, the Paralympic flame will follow its own route through the département, touching on towns such as Montfermeil, Clichy-sous-Bois, Livry-Gargan, Sevran, Epinay-sur-Seine, Villetaneuse, Le Pré-Saint-Gervais, Pantin and Bobigny, with a notable passage through the Basilica of Saint-Denis.

Carriers of the Flame

Among the first torchbearers, local figures such as wrestling champion Mélonin Noumonvi and Mehdi Akaouch, a committed athlete from Pierrefitte, will highlight the richness and diversity of the Seine-Saint-Denis region.
