To make the most of the lockdown exit, how about going on a hike in the countryside and forests in Île-de-France? While Parisians and Île-de-France inhabitants have been isolating at home since the lockdown began, and now, they can enjoy a pretense of liberty. And because sport remains in lockdown until May 19, 2021, in the meantime, we need to get out! And good news: with Helloways, we have selected the best hikes and walks accessible from Paris, to enjoy post-lockdown.
Of course, we are all dreaming about escaping from our daily lives in lockdown, and go on a walk to stretch our legs. This time, with Helloways, we take you on the discover of forests and the countryside in the Paris area.
Our favorite walks and hikes:
9.2km loop – 2h15 walk. Accessible with RER B, stop at “Bures-sur-Yvette”
To start with, let us go on the discovery of the Viaduc des Fauvettes, a former train bridge featuring magnificent views on the valley. You will walk across quiet forests on the heights of Gometz-le-Châtel.
So far, so Loign
12.1km station to station trip – 3h walk. Accessible with Transilien train line R, stop at “Montigny-sur-Loing” or “Nemours St-Pierre”
How about relaxing by the water? This time, we take you to Île-de-France river Loign to make you discover a fantastic walk. A relaxing hike by the water and through fields all the way to Nemours.
Break in Bleau
32km station to station trip – 2-day walk. Accessible with Transilien train line R, stop at “Melun” or “Fontainebleau – Avon”
This micro-adventure is aptly named… How about enjoying a break in the heart of the Fontainebleau forest? 32km walk to make the most of nature, far from the capital’s stress. Pines, blocks of sandstone, and small village will walk with you from Melun to Fontainebleau.
Commelle, or nothing
12.4km loop – 3h30 walk. Accessible with RER Da, stop at “La Borne Blanche”
At the border of Île-de-France, it is a wonderful hike taking you to the wonderful lakes of Commelle. Open air, fields and forests are to be expected.
The Seine as seen from the sky
8.6km loop – 2h15 walk. Accessible with Transilien train line J, stop at “Meulan – Hardricourt”
Here is a nice and family-friendly walk in the heights of Mézy-sur-Seine. Walk lovely streets before enjoying the panoramas provided by the small paths, before going back, walking by the Seine.
And while staying in Paris?
Or you can book a boat in Paris for a date, with your family or friends, with Lakana Paris Cruise. Explore the city from the water, its monuments and bridges, as well as the hidden locations such as the floating village of the Île-Saint-Germain.
Furthermore, for anyone wishing to find a hike buddy or to offer outings in groups, while social distancing and complying with the health guidelines (not to be forgotten!), you can join Rando & Co 🐿 • Ile-de-France, the Facebook page for hikers in Île-de-France. And new in 2020: the “bourses d’expé randonnée”! Helloways take care of your next big hike by giving away gear and check! Find out more here. So, now, let us go on a free walk, shall we?
