Edouard Philippe and Olivier Véran have just presented the new Covid-19 map to take into account to start phase 2 of the containment exit plan starting on June 2. On this new map, most of France is green. Only Île-de-France as well as Mayotte and French Guiana remain an orange point of vigilence.

Coronavirus: Deconfinement map in France as of May 28, 2020
As June 2 is upon us, we still look at the data as for the coronavirus situation in France closely. This Thursday May 28, 2020, we are finally discovering the new map with green and red areas (that are orange now) for phase 2 of the containment exit plan starting next Tuesday.
Wednesday May 27: The same four regions are in red. But as June 2 is upon us, they are wondering if they will be given a green light or not to launch phase 2 of the deconfinement plan.
Thursday May 7: Hauts-de-France include 5 departments: Aisne, Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais, Somme. Île-de-France has 8: Paris, Hauts de Seine, Seine Saint Denis, Val de Marne for the inner suburbs and Val d'Oise, Yvelines, Essonne and Seine et Marne for the Greater Paris. Bourgogne Franche Comté also includes 8 departmnets: Côte-d'Or, Doubs, Jura, Nièvre, Haute-Saône, Saône-et-Loire, Yonne, Territoire de Belfort and the Grand Est region has 10: Ardennes, Aube, Marne, Haute Marne, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Vosges, Haut Rhin, Bas Rhin and Moselle. There are 32 departments in red and 69 departments in green.
Wednesday May 6: Sarthe turned green again. 51 departments are green, 27 are red and 24 are orange.
Tuesday May 5: 5 Hauts-de-France departments move from red to orange. Aisne, Nord, Oise, Pas-de-Calais and Somme are now part of the 24 orange departments. 27 red departments remain in red and 50 departments are green, which is about half od French departments.
Monday May 4: No change since yesterday. As for the active circulation of the virus, Ardèche moves from orange to green and as for hospital issues, Sarthe goes from green to orange. We are still waiting for the third criterium that is the capacity to perform tests in each department.
Sunday May 3: The situation gradually evolves in France. 10 new departments are green, while no new "red area" case has appeared.
Saturday May 2: 6 new departments in South-East and especially in Southern PACA region go green. Indeed, on Saturday May 2, 2020, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône, Var and Vaucluse have joined the other 42 departments now in green area. All in all, 42 departments are green, 22 orange and 32 still in red.
Friday May 1, 2020: 6 departments changed color this Friday May 1st, 2020, especially to correct mistakes that were made on the first map, like in Lot. The new map now includes 32 departments in red (instead of 35 Thursday), 28 orange (instead of 30) and 41 green (instead of 36). Departments of Lot and Haute-Corse have moved from red to green, after mistakes in data collection. Tarn moved from orange to green, so did Dordogne.
Thursday April 30, 2020: the first and awaited map shows 35 departments in "red" area. No surprise, these departments in red are mainly set in Hauts-de-France, Grand Est and Île-de-France. Almost no departments are in green (36) and about thirty departments are orange, ready to move from one side to another when the map will be set on May 7th.
Edouard Philippe announced it this Tuesday at the Assembly when presenting his deconfinement plan: “all territories have not been affected the same way. It is then logic that, being extremely cautious, we propose a deconfinement framework fitted to local realities in France and overseas”.
3 criteria will enable to determine the color of flags and stricter measures to implement:
Based on these data presented every night, the government will be able to tell on May 7 what departments will have a red or green flag on May 11. Jérôme Salomon will present a detailed map per department.
“This map will guide every department to prepare to phase out on May 11, reminding the goal of a stricter confinement to stop the virus, but also the need to reset the hospital system and set up effective systems of tests and detection of contact cases” the Prime Minister said.
In concrete words, what does it mean to bee in green or red zone? The color will determine if schools can open on one hand, but also, on the other hands if shopping malls, parks and gardens can too.
