As France is still faced with the coronavirus epidemic with the spread of the Omicron variant, the government adapts measures depending on the evolution of the health crisis. Here is what changes from February 16.

The coronavirus epidemic goes on in France and the spread of the Omicron variant shows record data, especially when it comes to new contaminations and the incidence rate. More contagious, but less dangerous, this mutant yet remains very thoroughly tracked, and is a source of tension for hospitals. After instating restrictions in late 2021, the government is now adapting to the evolution of the health crisis, by progressively lifting measures.

This Thursday January 20, 2022, Jean Castex presented during a press brief a calendar lifting restrictions with three key dates: January 24, February 2, and February 16. Here is what changes in the country on the last step of this schedule.

February 16, 2022 marks the return of nightclubs and clubs, as well as standing shows. Eating and drinking whilst standing is allowed again in bars and cafés, and one can once again drink and eat in transit. Although it has not been addressed by Jean Castex, the ban of dancing in bars and restaurants is to be lifted as the same time as the reopening of nightclubs.
