Museums Night 2018 at Paris Musée de l’Homme

For Museums Night 2018, Paris Musée de l’Homme invites us to a movie night and to enjoy workshops and screenings as well as a free access to the exhibition areas, including the current exhibition “Neandertal, the exhibition”.

Museums Night is an event you don’t want to miss. On Saturday May 19, 2018, Paris Musée de l’Homme will remain open late at night and welcome curious children and adults free of charge within its collections.

Located in Place du Trocadéro, above the Musée de la Marine, the Musée de l’Homme had a makeover and, since its reopening, is one of the most popular museums in Paris: this lab-museum answers three big questions by reviewing the current anthropological researches – who are we? Where are we from? Where are we going? – in a rather successful staging making us travel through time and cultures!

Prehistory and cinema: Men and caves
Saturday May 19, 2018 from 8:30 p.m. to midnight

Movie night at the Musée de l’Homme! Meet at the auditorium for a Prehistory special program featuring two full-length feature films throughout the night.

  • 8:30 p.m.: Caveman, a Carl Gottlieb movie, 1981 (91mn).
    Follow the adventures of Atouk (Ringo Starr) and Lar (Dennis Quai) speaking a period language based on onomatopoeias and suggestive gestures. A funny and surprising movie.

  • 10:30 p.m.: One Million Years B.C., a Don Chaffey movie, 1966 (105mn)
    Rejected by his tribe, Tumak is by himself in a hostile and dangerous environment. He finds shelter at the Shell tribe and falls in love with one of their members, Loana (Raquel Welch).

Free visit of the permanent and temporary exhibitions
Saturday May 19, 2018 from 7 p.m. to midnight
For the European Museums Night, the Musée de l’Homme opens its door wide. From 7 p.m. to midnight, in free visit, you can discover or rediscover the varied exhibition areas of the museum:

  • The permanent exhibition in the Galerie de l’Homme
  • The temporary exhibitions “Neandertal, the Exhibit”
  • The exhibition-file “Mosses, pollution sentries”, at the Balcon des Sciences
  • The photo exhibition “The People of the Valle, Chapter One / Palawan Island, Philippines”, in the Foyer de l’auditorium.
