Make Music Day 2018 at the Irish Cultural Center in Paris drew a crowd of over 5000 spectators with its unique and fun atmosphere!
This year, on Friday June 21, the Irish Cultural Center presents for this Make Music Day 2019, many new artists, happy and proud to represent all the richness of the Irish music stage.
On the menu? Joshua Burnside, Notify and Wyvern Lingo.
Indie folk: Joshua Burnside
Songwriter-composer-singer and producer from Norther Ireland, Joshua Burnside uses music from Colombia, Easter Europe and Norther America as main sources of inspiration. Carried by an enchanting voice, his melodies ingeniously and elegantly spread traditional folk and electro sounds. The artist's first album, Ephrata has won him the Northern Ireland Music Prize 2017. The future seems to shine bright for the one who already has 10 million listeners on Spotify... Joshua Burnside is undoubtedly one of the most promising songwriters of his generation.
Traditional music: Notify & guest Síomha
WITH PÁDRAIG RYNNE (CONCERTINA), CILLIAN KING (GUITAR, CONCERTINA), EOIN WALSH (BASS), CORMAC MCCARTHY (PIANO, KEYBOARDS), FIONN O CEALLACHAIN (DRUMS)
Mixing Irish melodies and electronic, jazz and rock sounds, Notify is spearheading an evolution of traditional music on the contemporary stage. Through her delicate, explosive arrangements full of inventiveness, the band brings a new breath of life to Irish music by brillantly mixing their sincere respect of tradition with an avant-garde spirit. Pivoting on the wizardry of concertina player and electronic sound designer Pádraig Rynne, Notify delivers a repertoire of original melody compositions accompanied that night by Síomha - a talented folk, jazz and soul singer and guitar player.
Pop R' n' B: Wyvern Lingo
WITH CAOIMHE BARRY (VOICE, DRUMS, GUITAR), KAREN COWLEY (VOICE, BASS, KEYBOARDS), SAOIRSE DUANE (VOICE, GUITAR)
Music is the glue that helped Wyvern Lingo stick together. From the age of 12, they obsessed over hand-me-down albums of Led Zeppelin, Joni Mitchell and Simon & Garfunkel along with the R’n’B of the 90s/00s. A few years later, their eclectic and catchy choruses stich together this tapestry of influences and united with thrilling vocal harmonies. Signed on Hozier's label, their first opus ranked on the top of the charts and has been critically acclaimed when it was released in 2018. Also renown for their fantastic live performances, this very fresh and groovy trio will come and set fire to this Make Music Day!
