The Musée Dapper, located in Paris 16th arrondissement, takes part in 2017 Museum Night on Saturday 20 May: a movie screening is planned starting from 2:30 pm, followed by an introduction to an African board game.
Museum Night offers the involved institutions the opportunity to offer the public a new eye on their collections. Some of them offer musical guided tours, some dances and other children activities... The Musée Dapper plays the movie card offering a screening related to its permanent collections to visit for free on that evening, as well as board games you will be pleasantly introduced to.
Here is the program:
- Conference about the movie Half of a Yellow Sun by Biyi Bandele
Saturday 20 May 2017 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Screening followed by a conference hosted by journalist and anthropologist Brice Ahounou.
Come and discover the movie based on the eponymous bestseller by the female author, Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie, a movie unseen in France and forbidden in Nigeria. This is a love story, a romantic saga against the backdrop of civil war but this is first and foremost a personal and intimist movie which offers an outlook of the story of Africa and a relevant thinking of the tragedies happening there (Independence of Nigeria).
- Discovering the Oware
Saturday 20 May 2017 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Come and learn the rules of this African board game: the Musée Dapper’s team will introduce the public to the Oware, a game known all across Africa since the 7th century!
