The Centre des arts invites us to the future. With the Science Fiction: les artisans du rêve exhibition, we admire a selection of works coming from movies and series that have imagined our future. Walk around many costumes, decors, movie props and models displayed and discover what happens backstage. Running for free from January 31 to April 11, 2020.
Have you heard about Star Trek? Star Wars? Valerian and the city of a thousand planets, Alien, Metropolis? You may remember all these items and technologies used in these movies and that make us dream. If we now own the touch screens from the Start Trek ships or augmented reality devices, we’re still waiting for the day we’ll be swinging a lightsaber. The exhibition at the Centre des arts actually provides a new light on the way science-fiction can influence our reality.
And when walking around the costumes from Valerian and the Fifth element, observed by R2-D2, C-3PO and Robby, the robot from Forbidden Planet, we get aware of all the trades involved in the creation of a movie. The Centre des arts wants to pay tribute to the essential work of these special effect professionals giving life to the scriptwriters’ and directors’ ideas and characters.
The Science-fiction: les artisans du rêve exhibition is launched as part of the Paris Images Trade Show festival devoted to special effects. Fond of movies, science-fiction or new technologies, this exhibition is a must if you want to learn and dream about what the future holds!
