Due to the coronavirus epidemic, after postponing several big Parisian, French and International events such as the Foire de Paris, the French Open, the UEFA Euro and even the Tokyo Summer Olympics, it’s another major Parisian cultural event that is postponed. Museum Night 2020 – initially planned this upcoming May 16th – will ultimately take place later on… Well, we sure know the new date: November 14th, 2020 because of the health situation still preoccupying in France and in the world.
A decision made by the minister of Culture also because of the lack of visibility as of the end of the crisis in the country. Why choosing this date to postpone this major art event? The minister gives more details and explains this date – even though long after the end of summer – will include the program of events as part of the “La classe, l’oeuvre” operation usually taking place during the Museum Night. But this date also enables participating classes to adjust their entertainment program especially created for the occasion. For the record, over 1200 museums in France have been part of the edition 2019 and 3200 museums in the rest of the European Union.
We will have to wait for November to go to museums “to enjoy the richness and the diversity of the collection for free and their program that the multiplicity of events they set up with a lot of enthusiasm for the event”. We shall wait for the end of the crisis to go back to museums, anyway, and if not, enjoy European Heritage Days 2020 that are not yet postponed.
