Rodin in his garden, this is the beautiful name of the photo exhibition to discover until November 29, 2020 in the gardens of the Musée Rodin. A walk in the trees and sculptures, following the footsteps of the artist who walked these pathways more than once. Discover this exhibition paced with old photographs and look at the master in the eye.
35 photographs have been taken from the museums’ collections and scattered in the garden pathways. Follow the exhibition to discover these rarely displayed prints, ordered by Rodin himself in order to promote himself and document his artistic process.
The tour starts in the main courtyard with some pictures illustrating the life of Auguste Rodin when he was living in the Hôtel Biron between 1908 and 1917. Then, head to the wooded area. Between bronzes of the Bourgeois de Calais and of Victor Hugo, pictures show the life of these works of art.
By the pool, you can enjoy photographs showing the look of the garden at Rodin’s time, before it was redesigned in 1927. Last but not least, the museum shines a light on four photographers and their works on Rodin’s sculptures: the elegant color photograph Jacques-Ernest Bulloz, the romantic Stephen Haweis & Henry Coles, the staging photographer Eugène Druet and the poetic studio photographer Charles Bodmer.
After you walk in the Musée Rodin, whether you go and admire the current exhibition or to enjoy L'Augustine’s dishes – aka the museum’s restaurant – head to the gardens and walk the pathways by the great sculptor who created all these beauties.
