Notre-Dame de Paris: renovations not to be done before 2025

The day following the inferno that burnt the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral back in April 2019, Emmanuel Macron announced the thousand-year-old monument will be rebuilt in the next 5 years, prior to Paris 2024 Olympics. Yet, this hope has been crushed by Paris first deputy mayor – heard by the National Assembly as to the church renovation, who thinks renovations will be completed in 2025.

Paris: Lafarge cement manufacturer suspected of discharging polluted waters into the Seine

This is an ecologic scandal making a splash. Paris public prosecutor has opened an investigation in late August against the LafargeHolcim cement manufacturer suspected of discharging into the Seine a mix of “particles of cement, process liquids and plastic microfibers”. Paris authorities have decided to file a complaint against Lafarge.

Sulfur odor in Paris and Île-de-France: analyses are ongoing

Last Sunday evening, Paris and Ile-de-France inhabitants have been disturbed by a strange sulfur odor in the air for some and a smell of burning for others. If internet users have shared their worries on social network, Paris firefighters attribute these smells to the sever storms this weekend. Analyses are ongoing to determine the origin. Results should be known later today.

Free cloth masks for Parisians: sign up now

Anne Hidalgo confirmed free cloth and washable facemasks will be given to each Parisian. Interviewed by LCI this May 5, Paris mayor says that these reusable masks will be available from May 11th in pharmacies. She said that "500,000 surgical msks will be avaialble this week given by arorndissement mayors to the most fragile people". Anne Hidalgo promised earlier in April that “two million cloth facemasks” will be “given” to Parisians in order to fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
