Mata Hari, the renowned dancer and spy, takes center stage in an immersive theater production running from February 7 to April 25, 2026. This captivating experience transports audiences back to 1916, immersing them in a web of intrigue that promises to uncover more about the life of this femme fatale who left her mark on Paris during the Belle Époque.
From James Bond to OSS 117 and Mata Hari, the Cinémathèque takes us into the dangerous and exciting world of spies, with the exhibition Top secret, cinéma & espionnage, on view from October 21, 2022 to May 21, 2023.
On October 15, 1917, Mata Hari was shot by the French authorities in the Bois de Vincennes. Successively courtesan, oriental dancer, spy and double agent, she was sentenced to death for intelligence with the enemy at the end of a summary trial.
