This is a must-do during the holiday season: with family or friends, you dive into the magic of Christmas with the castle of Vaux-le-Vicomte’s festive decor. The monument dresses up in its finest finery for year-end, for the 21st edition of the Grand Noël du château de Vaux-le-Vicomte. From November 14, 2026 to January 3, 2027, marvel at richly decorated trees, chocolate sculptures, fairy-tale tableaux and garden illuminations, for a memorable stroll.
Every year, this château in Seine-et-Marne is transformed into a magical place during the Christmas season . Young and old alike are invited to discover this sumptuous residence, which takes on the appearance of an enchanted castle thanks to the decorations installed in the various rooms of the monument.
We don’t yet know the theme or the specifics of this new edition. Before you dive in, here’s a glimpse of the previous one. For the 20th edition, at Christmas 2025, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte swept us into the dream world: in every room, a new dream came to life through innovative sets and animations. These childlike dreams seemed straight out of fairy tales: animals and plush toys filled each scene, while the trees were wrapped in garlands, ribbons, ornaments, and colorful characters.
The tour began at the Museum of Carriages, where visitors could pick up capes — a stylish accessory to help kids slip into their character. We then made our way along the aisle of illuminated Christmas trees, up to the castle. There, we moved from room to room, dream to dream. An icy world, a candy-apple dream, an underwater universe or a fairy banquet: these enchanted realms delighted both children and the young at heart!
In every room, a crackling fireplace completed the winter’s festive mood, while distinctive scents carried us deeper into the sweet world of Christmas.
But the visit didn't stop there: next up, the garden to enjoy the festive lights and seasonal entertainment. In the 2025 edition, a temporary ice rink was installed: you could admire the château while pulling off your finest spins on the ice. Beginners, meanwhile, could make use of stabilizers to protect their physical integrity and dignity. Access to the rink is an extra on top of the visit: expect 5 euros per person. Note that skating sessions will be limited to 30 minutes during peak crowds.
Between the groves, visitors could also enjoy carriage rides, marshmallows toasted by the fire, a wish tree, or even a treasure hunt.
As night fell, the castle façade also lit up, with the sound-and-light show "Vaux-le-Vicomte, the waking dream". This premiere projection offered us a fun and enchanting eight-minute family-friendly spectacle that closed out the day.
During this 20th edition, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte also unveiled a new experience: in the Harnesses Museum, visitors could discover a postcard-writing workshop. This charitable activity invites participants to write a card, which would then be distributed to people who are isolated during the holiday season. In partnership with La Poste, the ADPHILE Foundation and the Red Cross, this writing workshop aims to share the joy and warmth of Christmas.
Finally, on the first floor of the castle, an immersive show inspired by Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol was offered to visitors for an additional fee.
And what about Christmas 2026? We’ll have to wait to learn the details of these celebrations. We hope that, once again this year, the Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte will treat us to beautiful fêtes de Noël magiques, with its enchanting decorations, which appeal to both children and grown-ups alike!
