Looking for an original, free Halloween activity in the 11th arrondissement? You've come to the right place. Rue de la Folie Méricourt is transformed into a life-size playground on October 31 and November 1, 2025, with a Halloween treasure hunt organized by the neighborhood's merchants' association. This event, to be enjoyed with family or friends, invites young and old alike to open their eyes wide to unearth the unusual details that dot this street full of surprises, located between République and Oberkampf.

The principle is simple and fun: intruders hide in participating shops (with sweets at stake!), while riddles are hidden on building facades and street corners. Rue de la Folie Méricourt lives up to its name. You'll find a lot of weird stuff here. In shop windows, on storefronts, around street corners... We don't always pay attention, but in fact, madness is everywhere.

Therue de la Folie Méricourt shopkeepers' association has devised this route to help visitors discover the district in a different way. This neighborhood was named after a certain landowner called Méricourt, who owned a "folie" - a country house in those days. This road, which already appeared on Gomboust's 1652 plan, was the former main street of the Popincourt hamlet. Today, it's a lively, dynamic district, close to the Cirque d'hiver Bouglione and the Canal Saint-Martin, with a mix of artisans, local shops and cultural venues.

For this 2025 edition, registration is made directly online via Eventbrite. Once registered, participants receive the terms and conditions of the hunt, and can set off on their adventure. The event takes place over two days, giving families the choice of participating onHalloween, October 31, or All Saints' Day, November 1. It's a great opportunity to stroll through this Parisian village-like neighborhood, where you'll come across burners like Obercafé and the many independent shops that make the place so charming.

Children in fancy dress are of course welcome, and can even win prizes in a draw organized especially for them. It's a great way to combine a stroll, a treasure hunt and candy distribution, all in a friendly, family atmosphere. This treasure hunt stands out from other paid Halloween events by offering an activity accessible to all, supported by local shopkeepers who play along by decorating their storefronts and taking an active part in the fun.

For those already familiar with the area, it's a great opportunity to rediscover the street from another angle. For others, it's an invitation to explore this corner of the 11th arrondissement, nestled between Boulevard de Belleville and Rue Oberkampf, where history and modernity meet. A stone's throw away, you can extend your stroll to Square Jules-Verne, the neighborhood's green lung, or make a detour to Rue Oberkampf, famous for its bars and restaurants.

The Folie Intruder Hunt is one of those wonderful neighborhood initiatives that bring residents, shopkeepers and visitors together. An event that echoes the spirit of this unusual street, where writer Pierre Gripari set one of his collections of tales, Les Contes de la Folie Méricourt, aptly chosen for its evocative name.

The event is free and open to all. All you have to do is register via the Eventbrite link, come dressed up if you feel like it, and set off on the hunt for hidden details in this street full of character. Join us on October 31 and November 1, 2025 rue de la Folie Méricourt, in the 11th arrondissement, for a family adventure that's a change from traditional candy hunts. Happy trick-or-treating!
