Jean-Jacques Rousseau from every angle... This is what the Musée Jean-Jacques Rousseau, located in Montmorency in the Val-d'Oise (95), usually offers through its collections and exhibitions. And for the Journées du Patrimoine, history and literature enthusiasts will be able to learn more about one of the most emblematic philosophers of the Enlightenment through tours, workshops and a treasure hunt on September 20 and 21, 2025.
The museum is located in the writer's home, Petit Mont-Louis, and offers tours of his garden, his study and the "Donjon", where Rousseau wrote La Nouvelle Héloïse, Émile ou de l'Éducation and Du Contrat social between 1757 and 1762. The site also hosts exhibitions and other cultural events throughout the year.
And as for the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), this 42nd edition offers Parisians and Ile-de-France residents, as well as French citizens in the rest of the country, the chance to discover numerous establishments, institutions and other heritage sites free of charge, most of them opening their doors exceptionally for the occasion. A great opportunity to learn more about our history... Enjoying the weekend, friends?
