For Museums' Night 2024, we're heading for a beautiful, playful museum that's sure to delight young and old alike. This Saturday, May 18, 2024, the Musée du Jouet opens its doors to us free of charge.

Did you know that toys have their own museum? In Poissy, in the Yvelines department, the Musée du Jouet has been welcoming the curious since 1974, with the aim of showcasing a collection of 800 toys and games dating from Antiquity to the present day.

Housed in theformer Saint-Louis royal priory, the collection explores the role of toys in the education of children and their psychomotor development, and teaches us more about society's view of children, their initiation into the modern world, and the evolving strategies of toy designers.

From the earliest antique toys - including rattles, cars, animals and dolls, presented thanks to a deposit from the Louvre Museum - to the latest toys in vogue, over 600 objects are on display in the windows of the small 300 m² museum. Enough to inspire families looking for an original cultural visit to make with the kids! Why not take advantage of the Nuit des Musées to discover this amazing place? We reveal the program that awaits you!

The tour is enhanced by small sports challenges, from bowling to magnetic soccer, for a fun and participative visit.
Finally, in the last room, a digital mediation experience allows visitors to create their own personalized Olympic mascot.

A "parcours-jeux dont tu es le héros" is available for young visitors at the museum reception desk: children can slip into the shoes of a young athlete and have 7 days to show that they're ready to take part in the Olympic Games, by solving questions and taking on one or more sporting challenges (from 9-10 years old / from 7 years old with the help of an adult).
