Every year, the Nuit des Musées (Night of the Museums ) gives us the chance to rediscover our heritage through a program of exceptional nocturnes, free visits and original events. Paris and the whole of the Île-de-France region take advantage of this opportunity to unveil its secrets. Don't miss the next date, scheduled for Saturday May 17, 2025.
Located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris, the Shoah Memorial is a museum and place dedicated to the memory of the genocide of Jews during the Second World War. This museum ofhistory brings together numerous testimonies, archives, photographs, texts, videos and audio recordings, explaining the history of the Jews in France, the rise of Nazism and the crimes perpetrated during the war years.
An educational, child-friendly introduction to the subject, and some upsetting elements for adults: this museum is a place open to all. So why not find out what's in store for you on Museum Night?
Primo Levi'sSi c'est un homme is a classic of concentration literature about his months at Monowitz-Buna, part of the vast Auschwitz complex. La Trêve is the story of his return. The camp was liberated by the Russian army on January 27, 1945, but Primo Levi did not return home to Turin until October 19, 1945. Between these two dates, the author takes us on an odyssey through a bloodless and disorganized Europe, where life is trying to resume. Accompanied by his Italian comrades, he crosses Poland, the USSR, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany... A picaresque tale, both funny and bittersweet, as moving as it is warm. Absolutely human.
Texts read by Mathieu Amalric, actor.
So we'll see you at the Shoah Memorial for the 21st Nuit des Musées, folks?
