Decidedly, don't plan to travel too close to the Seine, around the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as 17 metro and RER stations will be closed from July 18!

If you can telecommute, go on vacation and leave the capital during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, it's highly advisable! Several metro stations will be closed for the duration of the competition and even earlier, as early as May for Concorde station, for example, due to the assembly of Olympic venues. In addition, some fifteen stations will be inaccessible to the public from July 18, a week before the opening ceremony, scheduled for the 26th.

These closures are part of the security measures deployed for the occasion, unveiled on Thursday by Laurent Nuñez, Prefect of the Paris Police. Although they are due to reopen on July 27, many Parisians will be affected in their day-to-day lives, if they are accustomed to traveling around the Seine on public transport. All metro stations leading into the anti-terrorist protection perimeter are affected, as the perimeter must remain"watertight".

During these eight days, the authorities will be clearing the river of mines. Bus routes will also be diverted, while on the day of the ceremony, no one will be allowed near the perimeter.
