The Bridgertons and the Featheringtons are back in season 3 of The Bridgerton Chronicle, available on Netflix since May 16, 2024 for the first part and June 13, 2024 for the second. The SVOD platform released a trailer on June 3, 2024, showing a new batch of episodes .
"Penelope Featherington has finally given up her long-standing love for Colin Bridgerton after overhearing him make disparaging remarks about her. She decided, however, that it was time for her to take a husband, preferably one who would give her enough independence to pursue her double life as Lady Whistledown, away from her mother and sisters."
The new season will feature many familiar faces (at least to fans of the series), including Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington in the series), Ruth Gemmell, Jonathan Bailey, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Will Tilston and Florence Hunt. In the meantime, let's take a look back at the various teasers already released, as well as the two previous seasons, available on Netflix... Ready to enter British high society once again?
Our review of season 3 of The Bridgerton Chronicle :
So, how good is season 3 of The Bridgerton Chronicle? To be perfectly honest, it's a bit of a mixed bag: on the acting front, there's nothing to say: Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton are impeccable in their roles. The character development of Portia Featherington, Cressida Cowper and Violet Bridgerton also stands out. For the rest of the cast (when they're present), however, it's rather tedious... Not that the actors are bad, far from it, but the writing of their characters really doesn't help.
As for the story, don't really expect this season to follow the plot of the novels, as there are some significant changes (we won't go into details, as others have already done that much better than we have). Nevertheless, this adaptation (in the very broadest sense of the word) is a little shaky... apart from the romance between Colin and Penelope, it's a little empty, and some situations are more than a little convoluted, even within the season's leading couple. This may also be due to a change of pace, with certain secondary characters being developed over time.
Nonetheless, this season is just as addictive as the others. And that's no doubt thanks to the cast and the interactions between the various characters. Enjoy without moderation if you're a fan!
