Les Étés du Louvre, the open-air art festival between the Pyramid and the Tuileries

This summer, take advantage of the Louvre Museum's new open-air festival to discover exceptional artistic performances, between the Louvre Pyramid and the Tuileries Garden, from June 21 to July 20, 2023.

Every summer, the capital offers us an exceptional program to enjoy the good weather in this open-air museum that is Paris. Head to the Louvre, the Parisian museum par excellence, for the first edition of Les Étés du Louvre festival, from June 21 to July 20, 2023. The festival is an opportunity to discover the plurality of the arts in the capital, from theater, dance, cinema, and concerts for all ages, and to explore the spaces from the Louvre Pyramid to the Tuileries Garden, via the Cour Lefuel.

The Louvre invites the public to discover its different facets, some of them free of charge, and to extend the visit to the major exhibition Naples in Paris, with a number of events focusing on Italy.

The festival program

  • Wednesday June 21 at 10 pm - Opening concert

The Orchestre de Paris under the direction of Klaus Mäkelä returns to the Louvre Pyramid for the Fête de la musique, and will present an Italian program with Puccini and Gabrieli, but also Ligeti and Stravinsky (The Firebird).

  • Wednesday, June 28 to Monday, July 3 at 10 pm - Theater / Creation
In this new creation, Eduardo De Filippo or The Ghosts of Naples, Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota with the Théâtre de la Ville troupe, will explore the work of Neapolitan playwright Eduardo De Filippo, one of the greatest Italian playwrights . The performances are preceded by a poetic stroll through the exhibition: "Naples in Paris: the Louvre invites the Capodimente Museum" starting at 8 pm.
  • Saturday ,July1 and Sunday ,July 2, 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm - Family Weekend
The public will be able to discover a playful program for young and old composed of French and Neapolitan puppet shows as well asworkshops on masks and visits around the characters of Pulcinella and Polichinelle.
  • Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 July from 7:30 pm - Open air cinema
A selection of Italian films such as Goodfellas by Martin Scorsese, Eight and a Half by Federico Fellini and Full Sun by René Clément will be screened outdoors.
  • Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 July at 10 and 11 pm - Dance
The choreographer Maud Le Pladec and the dancers of the CCN-Ballet de Lorraine will take over the Lefuel courtyard with an adapted version of the show Static Shot. The performances are preceded by a free wandering in the Italian sculpture rooms, accessible one hour before the performance.
  • Thursday, July 20 at 10 pm - Closing concert
Nu Genea Live Band, composed of Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina, has become in a few years the reference of a new generation of Neapolitan artists reinventing their cultural heritage by mixing languages (Neapolitan, Italian, French) and musical influences (European, Oriental, African).
