On June 28, 2025, the World Day Against Pet Abandonment will denounce this scourge that leaves thousands of cats and dogs on the streets, in pounds or in shelters. As a reminder, abandoning your pet can result in up to 3 years' imprisonment and €45,000. This year, to mark the occasion, Solidarité-Peuple-Animal is setting up a village in the Parc de Bercy and proposing a challenge: build the world's longest leash!
To set this first-ever record, you're invited to bring your own leash, or buy one on site and add it to the giant leash! If you can't make it but still want to take part, you can buy it online and make a minimum donation of 5 euros so that it can be added for you! In addition, the leashes collected will be distributed to partner associations and shelters, while the proceeds from the day's events will help finance the 3677 veterinary fund, which provides care for animals in need.
This huge leash, which is to form a giant bone on the lawn of the Parc de Bercy, will be measured by a bailiff to guarantee the reality of the record, and make it official with the Guinness Book. Goal: 3,000 leashes!
In addition to these activities, an artists' village awaits you from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to show the bond that unites us with our pets, thanks to three portrait artists/silhouettists/caricaturists who will offer you the chance to try out a caricature of your pet, so that you can leave with this souvenir on paper. Renowned animal painter Anne-Charlotte will create a live painting of a cat, which will then be auctioned off. An animal photographer will also be on hand to take your portrait!
