Something really new in the hotel and gastronomy business has just opened at 13, boulevard du Temple. Let yourself be invaded by the Peruvian atmosphere and discover new sensations...

Kevin Machefert, just 24 years old, imagined this new place that is out of the ordinary and that fits well with the renewal of the east of Paris. Business school, finance... His background is prestigious. But he is above all in love with Peru and thinks about what he could do. It is after many studies and reflections that he launches out with his friend Martin Gunther, met on the benches of the LSE that he launches out. After almost 4 months of work, the establishment shines with the colors of blue nights and precious metals. With its bar, its lobby, its restaurant, its terrace and its 52 rooms, the 1K was born under the sign of the Incas.

Peru is one of these countries full of future, and that, the founder of the 1K understood it well! Inspired by the traditional architecture of the Andes, the structure of the 1K is a back-and-forth between tradition and modernity. Architect Raymond Morel (who designed Murano and Kube, among others) juggles bronze, gold, copper and wood to create a visual and emotional shock. All the decoration refers to the imagery of the People of the Sun: Peruvian masks on the back of the seats, gilding and Inca motifs on the ceiling, floor with changing colors.

It's hard to miss the 1K with its projector-lit facade that shows the deep blue blinds with copper piping, slightly brassy, of the hotel's windows. The royal blue terrace is framed by giant planters where plants serve as a sound wall. In the blue-walled entrance, our eyes are immediately drawn to the ceiling where masks, warrior and animal heads have been molded in plaster and aged with gold leaf. On the floor, a woven vinyl in satin blue on one side and terracotta color on the other. Long moving chains undulate on the walls in a midnight blue atmosphere. High benches create small intimate niches around tables on which we eat directly from the Wengé wood. One completely loses one's bearings in this "ethnico-contemporary" universe that an ultra-sophisticated sound system (FOHHN) reinforces. Its advanced technology
Its cutting-edge technology makes it possible to never know where the sound comes from, all controlled from iPads placed in brass boxes bearing the 1K logo, located in each of the hotel's common areas. In these boxes, the iPads allow a home automation control never seen before in an establishment of this category: playlists, volume and choice of audio or video source in real time are just some of the possibilities offered by this custom-made system named "1K2C".

1 of the 3 varans, mascots of the hotel

Behind the granite stone service bar, a rusty plate door invites mystery. A surprise awaits the 1K's guests in October...
The dining room is separated from the lobby by a glass wall, the gold leaf pods on the bar reflect the long moving chains opposite. Embedded in one of the walls of the lobby, which runs as far as the eye can see, a giant terrarium exhibits three wild monitor lizards, each over a meter long. The mascots of the hotel... You are indeed in an atypical and new place, which creates a certain mystery...

The 1K Restaurant
It wants to make discover like nowhere in Paris the Andean gastronomy. Deeply rooted in the culture of the Incas, the concept wants to associate these distant flavors with today's western trends. The young chef Julien Burbaud (Top Chef 2012 candidate) proposes an ethnic cuisine, adapted to Western palates, where the contrasts of texture will once again disturb your senses: the crunchy and the soft, the spicy and the sweet, the acidulous and the sweet. Peruvian cuisine is one of the healthiest in the world. Among the specialties, the parihuela (a dish based on seafood and fish) would have aphrodisiac virtues... Rich in super foods and ingredients with essential nutrients, such as quinoa, corn, sweet potatoes... Julien Burbaud reinterprets it in his own way to explode in the mouth with flavors that are still unknown... On the menu, for example, sea bream ceviche (12€), red tuna (14€), pork belly, crunchy cabbage and peanuts, beef ribeye, corn croquetas, cocoa and tonka bean or veal quasi, sweet potato, badian and chimuchurri...
