Course des Lumières is back this year because research against cancer need more support than ever.
You're expected on November 23 in front of Paris City Hall to take part in this sporting and solidarity event organized by Institut Curie which half of the funds is donated to cancer research.
One man in five and one woman in six, here are the alarming numbers of people likely to have a cancer in their life, based on the recent world's studies. A parent, a friend, a related, everyone knows someone who has or who died of cancer. So, supporting research is essential, vital even. This is why Sortiraparis has decided to team up with this event mixing challenge, hope and fight to help finding the right treatments for sick people and develop new therapies.
Whether they practice sport or not, participants will have the choice between a 10-km timed race or a walk routine covering 4-km in the heart of the City of Lights and on the Seine riverbanks.
You can also get your bib by opening a fundraising page and launching a call to get a €200 donations.
In order to make an impression with the welcoming atmosphere of this event, the Village des Lumières offers all night long animations to participants.
Last year, Course des Lumières fundraised over €220,000 in support of cancer research. An amount that helped making progress against the disease that remains the leading cause of death in France with about 149,000 deaths per year.
