The vaccination campaign goes on. Following an update from the health insurance, it is no longer compulsory for one of the parent to be here. But, a signed parental permission remains obligatory.

The vaccination campaign continues in France. Since June 15, all teens from 12 to 15 years old can get vaccinated if they have a parental permission signed by both parents.

A fake news spotted by LCI, related to the vaccination bill project currently under talks at the National Assembly, spreading on social networks, planting seeds of doubt in parents wishing to get their children vaccinated. The amendment proposing to "allow testing or vaccine injection against SARS-CoV-2 action without prior collection of consent from both holders of the parental authority" is involved.

When reading the whole text, one understands the text aims at making access to vaccination easier for teenagers. The amendment passed by deputies allow young people to access vaccination or tests with the sole authorization from one of the parents, "unless otherwise stated by a doctor". Parental consent is still required, but the teenager no longer have to make both parents sign the authorization. This amendment has yet not been officially passed, this is only a draft bill. For now, both signatures are obligatory.

For the record, a teenager can go on their own to get vaccinated, with the authorization signed by their parents. They do not need to be accompanied. In an update from June 21 on the health insurance website, one reads "the day of vaccination, teen under 18 can come accompanied by one of their parents (or parental authority incumbent). This is a recommendation and not an obligation". Teenagers must keep "coming for vaccination with one of their parents' vital card or proof of rights including one of their parents' social security number".

"Vaccination will take part in this movement of herd immunity that will enable us - we hope - to limit closure of classrooms, junior high schools or high schools when school resume in September, to protect teens who cna sometimes develop symptomatic diseases. This is quite common in the fight against epidemics to vaccinate young teenagers", the health Minister claimed.
