One more! After the UK variant, the Indian variant, the Brazilian variant, and the South African variant… Vietnam announced this Saturday May 29, 2021 they have found a new Covid variant in their country.
“Vietnam has uncovered a new Covid-19 variant combining characteristics of the two existing variants first found in India and the UK” Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Long stated during a world Covid epidemic meeting. And the bad news is that according to national medias, it particularly spreads fast in the air.
This news has arrived as Vietnam is currently facing a new epidemic wave. Rather spared by the world pandemic so far, the country records many new cases, mostly in big cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City at the top of the list.
Furthermore, “the concentration of virus in the throat and saliva increases rapidly, and it spreads very quickly in the nearby environment” Vietnamese health authorities stated. Yet, the latter did not specify the share of this new variant in the new contaminations hitting the country.
The features of this new variant are to be released very soon to add it to the list of Covid variants in the world.
