Dancing has been banned in France's bars and restaurants since this past December 8th. But when will it be allowed again to party in these venues? Although Jean Castex did not specified this restriction during the press conference held this January 20, 2022, it is likely it will be lifted at the same time nightclubs reopn, standing shows resume and the end of the ban of eating whilst standing in bars, namely from February 16th.

To face the fifth wave, Jean Castex and Olivier Véran have delivered a press brief this past December 6th. The French Prime Minister and Health Minister have specified measures made by the government to slow the strong epidemic resurgence in the country. Among the measures? Closing nightclubs and clubs for four weeks, starting from Friday December 10, 2021.

A few days later, on Wednesday December 8, a decree was released also announcing the ban of dancing in bars and restaurants starting from this Friday and until January 6 included. Clubs “cannot have people until January 6 included”, starting from this Friday morning, 6 a.m., the decree reads, specifying “this ban applies to the dancing activities to the same date” in bars and restaurants.

Faced with the wrath of professionals from the night field, Emmanuel Macron has committed to “reopening as soon as possible” clubs and nightclubs, once again directly impacted by the health crisis. But as the health situation is not improving in France, with contaminations breaking new records daily, the ban has not been lifted on January 6, as expected, but people are wondering: when will the ban of dancing in bars and restaurants in France be lifted?

This Thursday January 20, 2022, during the press conference specifying the calendar lifting restrictions, Jean Castex did not specified this restriction. Yet it is likely to be lifted at the same time as the reopening of nightclubs, the return of standing shows, and the end of the ban of eating or drinking whilst standing in bars, namely from February 16, 2022.
