Many people have been saddened to learn that Stéphanie Le Quellec was leaving the famous Prince de Galles restaurant where she was working since 2013. But may foodies be rest assured since the two-Michelin-star chef has announced the opening of her restaurant, La Scène, in October 2019 in Paris.
The upcoming opening of La Scène is a genuine consecration for the chef who trained with the greatest such as Philippe Legendre. After winning Top Chef France season 2 in 2011, Stéphanie Le Quellec comes to Prince de Galles in 2013 to run the new restaurant of the Parisian palace. It won’t take long before she gets her first Michelin star, 9 months after she arrived, then a second one 6 years later.
“Opening my own restaurant symbolizes for me a return to the fundamentals, my original dream, my 14 -year-old daughter’s who goes to a hotel management school like some goes into religion. I knew no palace nor starred table, I never visited them but dreamt of a small family house with a simple cooking. La Scène is the result of many years of work, personal commitment, re-assessment and sometimes doubts. More than a restaurant, to me it’s a true-life project intimately bond to my own story. Today, I’m happy and proud to append my name to my restaurant and freely and simply shows what cooking means to me: sharing, conviviality, sincerity… Fundamental values that were already La Scène’s 7 years ago and pushing me now to go deeper in what I work on and imagine for my new table. Through this restaurant, I want to create a true place of life like me, where I can welcome guests as I would for my friends and family. Surrounded by my close ones, my loyal coworkers and my strong team, I am now launching myself into this life’s project and it’s the beginning of a wonderful adventure” she said.
About this future La Scène restaurant, we can already tell you that an open-plan kitchen will be set in the middle of the dinning room able to fit up to thirty guests.
In terms of flavors, Stéphanie Le Quellec will serve a “French creative food respecting thoroughly sourced ingredients imbued with eco-sustainability as close to producers and farmers as possible”.
On the first floor, patrons can discover L’Avant-Scène bar with a cocktail menu including champagne.
