The National Archives takes part in Museums Night on Saturday May 14, 2022. On the occasion, the Archives welcome us at the Hôtel de Soubise, a hotel particulier at the heart of the Chantier du Temple built in 1371.
On March 6, 1808, the Hôtel de Soubise is bought by the State with an imperial decree and officially given to the Empire Archives: Napoleon I had the archives gathered together since until then, they were kept in several Parisian storehouses. For over eight centuries, this hotel particulier is part of the Parisian landscape and has lived through all conflicts and social changes that made the French capital city.
European Museums Night is the perfect occasion to explore this history-packed venue and discover the missions and trades enlivening the National Archives. Make the most of the 18th edition to visit this building, and enjoy plenty of cultural entertainments held for this exclusive night.
