Museums Night is coming back on Saturday June 3, 2021 and, on the occasion many museums stay open for a free late-night opening! Afer years of renovations, the Palais Galliera reopened and is ready to welcome you all for this 17th edition of Museums Night.
From 6 p.m. to midnight, come and visit the incredible-looking fashion museum thanks to the special installation created by ENTER. This duo specialized in visual and digital arts have been given free rein to redecorate the palais.
For this special night, discover the museum with renovated architecture, which every corner have been decorated and accompanied by a never-before-seen sound composition. This modern sound and light installation will stand out with the 19th century building. This temporary installation is exclusively broadcasted on July 3, 2021 on Palais Galliera social networks for Museums Night.
Designed by the Duchesse de Galliera to present her art collection to the general public, the hotel particulier is built in 1894. Unfortunately, because of some administrative error, the Duchesse de Galliera wouldn't be able to giver her collection to Paris and would rather give it to the Palazzo Rosso in Genoa.
Then, only the Renaissance-inspired building will remain and will later become a museum of industrial art instead of displaying Duchesse de Galliera's collections. It's only in 1977 that the Paris Authorities give it its first theme back: the Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris was born.
Today, the collection of the Ville de Paris features over 200,000 pieces including clothes, accessories, photographs and graphic art works from the 18th century to noawadays.
