For the 20th edition of the White Night, the Conciergerie takes part in the event and provides a never-before-seen show from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.: Instants en suspension, an air circus. For one hour, two acrobats from the Envolée cirque provide curious people with a short circus creation inspired by themes dear to El Anatsui currently displayed in the monument: material, time and human.
Make the most of this exclusive night to discover this place packed with history: oldest vestige of the Palais de la Cité – Medieval residence to the Kings of France and prison during the French Revolution – the Conciergerie found a way to evolve over centuries while keeping its first function: order, police and recording prisoners. Because this is the very origin of its name: from the reign of Philippe II Auguste in the early 1200’s, the “Concierge” was a high character in the kingdom, named by the king to assure order and practice basic and average functions and justice. During the revolution, the building was used as a prison and the most famous inmate, Marie-Antoinette, spent her last hours there before she was beheaded.
While waiting for this beautiful show, make the most of the night to enjoy the El Anatsui exhibition: En quête de liberté.
Good visit and have a good White Night, friends!
