Save the date! The D’Days 2017 is held from 2 to 14 May 2017 in the Grande Nef of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs! This year, an unprecedented scale and proportions of the Festival of Designs feature 15 exhibitions in one and only venue, a huge playground thought up by contemporary designers!
Program of the D’Days 2017 at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs:
Audi Talents awards laureates Marion Pinaffo & Raphaël Pluvinage
For the D’Days 2017, the Audi Talents awards laureates present "Papier Machine: le secret des boîtes noires" [Paper machine: the secret of black boxes]. This first project is made of a notebook featuring thirteen electronic games on paper, ready to be cut, colored, folded, assembled and torn. Screen-printed using ink with various electric properties, these games show that behind the magic of our machines, hides a universe of material, forms, colors, stories and even smells.
Nathalie Pozzi and Eric Zimmerman
For the first time in France, the Centre national des Arts Plastiques presents Nathalie Pozzi and Eric Zimmerman’s work, FLATLANDS, created in 2010 and purchased in 2015. FLATLANDS is a selection of 180 game boards from the most classic ones to the craziest ones, offering a trip through pop culture and the history of gaming. The principle is to play and then to discuss the esthetic qualities and the ideological content with a judge who is tasked to decide between the two players’ arguments: the judge’s word is law.
D’Days & Officine Panerai
The D’Days team offers an immersion in deep waters with a dozen of invited designers: Mathieu Lehanneur, Damien Gernay, David Bowen, Grethe Sørensen, Tora Urup, alcarol, Teresa van Dongen, Joran Briand, Brynjar Sigurðarson, François Dumas, Luca Nichetto & Nendo, Antoine Boudin, Charles Carmignac and Emma Nicolas. Each in their own manner, they offer us their vision of the abysses, from the sea surface to the seabed, without forgetting the sea’s souvenirs!
École Camondo & Atelier Artel
Invited by Ecole Camondo, Artel presents an innovating project, Post-Piper, allowing us to take an atmosphere along with us and everywhere we go. Several objects have been created by pooling and connecting smartphones by means of an app. These objects allow to put on music no matter where you are, just to create your nightclub!
ESAD de Reims and Bernard Chauveau Édition
At the Festival of Design 2017, the Ecole Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Reims (ESAD-Reims) presents a selection of unprecedented works created by recent graduated designers. Aurore Assimon, Alexis Bondoux, Jaïna Ennequin, Etienne Marc, Marie-Eve Millasseau. Their first creations are limited to 10 copies.
École nationale supérieure d’art et de design de Nancy This year, third grade students of design at Nancy and second grade students of BTS design at Lycée Henri LORITZ thought up a series of objects around the fire. Febrile or feverish, their creations give pride of place to conviviality and wish for comfort in a world we mistreat and where we are mistreated...
Objets Public presents "Le Cauchemar de Narcisse" [Narcissus’s nightmare], a new vision of the relationship between furniture and urban environment.
Poster for Tomorrow
Poster for Tomorrow has a particular echo in France. It offers a selection of right-to-vote-related posters, realized by anonyms from all over the world as part of the Tomorrow contest. The project is about Human rights, the result was that over 300,000 people are taking part in the movement, 27,000 posters have been received and gave birth to conferences and workshops in Taipei, Istanbul, Cairo, Sarajevo, Roma or even in Rio!
With the project "Harvest", ten Dutch Invertuals designers have thought about scenarios taking place in a future of food self-sufficiency!
Mobilier national et manufactures nationales
Mobilier national joins forces with D’Days to set a historical trip around games and multimedia. The project is thought up with unique pieces created by Atelier de Recherche et de Création since 1960’s. Serge Manzon’s sculptural, radio and televisual constructions, daily life objects designed in a playful spirit, much reflection on forms divorced from industrial esthetic.
Les Ateliers d’Aubusson
This year, Les Ateliers d’Aubusson have decided to work with Marie Aurore Stiker Metral about Aubusson’s imagination and iconic animals. This is what sparked the idea to rethink a contemporary bestiary firmly engaged in the 21st century!
École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs
The EnsAD presents an exhibition called "CAN, témoin de 250 ans d’Histoire" created for the 250th birthday of the EnsAD. Graduated in 2016 for the 250th birthday of the school, Florian Dach and Dimitri Zephir are the brains behind the project. Inspired by relay, this creation represents the school path from its creation in 1766 by Jean-Jacques Bachelier to nowadays!
