The Musée Rodin is a genuine Parisian rococo architecture gem where are mostly exhibited works by Auguste Rodin and Camille Claudel. And good news, you can visit again starting July 7! Let’s have a closer look at this cultural place set in the middle of the 7th arrondissement in Paris.
It’s one of the most enjoyed museums in Paris. Open in 1919, the Musée Rodin was set in the former hotel Peyrenc de Moras, also known as the hotel Biron, which was built in 1732. It’s set on rue de Varenne in the heart of the 7th arrondissement, a stone’s throw from the Invalides and the Eiffel Tower. Temporarily closed because of the coronavirus epidemic, it reopens from July 7, 2020, this is the occasion to discover this fascinating museum.
And to celebrate return to social and cultural life, the museum provides several entertainments all summer long:
- Exceptional late-night opening of the garden - Thursdays from July 23 to August 13, 2020 up to 9:30 p.m.
- Roding in his garden, the photo exhibitions of the museum in the garden
Starting from August 1, the museum offers you to enjoy pictures of Rodin in his garden, in the middle of the museum's green spaces. This open air exhibition offers you to dive into the museum's old photograph collections. As many discoveries to enjoy under the trees of the garden along your stroll.
- Late night picnic - Thursday from July 23 to August 13
Visitors can enjoy four late-night openings on Thursdays to come and enjoy the garden of sculptures, with a guided tour, have a drink, and discover the latest café-restaurant L'Augustine. Picnic is allowed on the grass, the garden is yours! During late-night openings, you will be guided throughout the garden. Please note on Thursday July 23, from 6:30 p.m., some "talk" with Alain Baraton is planned, followed by a signing session of his book, "Mes Jardins de Paris" published by Grasset.
- Entertainment weekend in August
On weekends, an entertainment program accompanies us throughout the Musée Rodin's garden, photographs in the garden, mediation, drawing workshop, photo contest, base of The Thinker to strike a pose, everything has been thought up to enjoy a fun day in one of the most beautiful gardens in Paris. Have a break at the café-restaurant L'Augustine or bring your picnic and finish the day by visiting the store. On August 23-24 weekend, a big paper chase expects children with "treasures" to bring home.

Covering two stories, this museum houses works by Auguste Rodin – considered as one of the fathers of modern sculpture – as well as collections of antique works, paintings and sculptures. Works by his muse, Camille Claudel who was a sculptress and a painter, are also displayed.
Every year, about 700,000 visitors come and enjoy the 6800 sculptures, 8000 drawings, 10,000 old photographs and 8000 art items exhibited at the hotel Biron and at the villa des Brillants in Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine), which makes of the musée Rodin of the greatest museums in France.
A new tour has been set up including a new room enabling us to immerge ourselves into the artist’s universe. Around the hotel de Biron, we find a huge garden with sculptures spreading over three hectares as well as a chapel entirely renovated back in November 2005. To make our visit even more pleasant, the museum enjoys a café in the middle of the garden, perfect to roam around.
