This hanging is also the occasion to enjoy this special place, this studio-museum where lived and created sculptor Antoine Bourdelle. A place filled with history that the family donated to Paris, as the artist wanted.
Why “Bourdelle devant Beethoven”? 2020 was the famous composer’s 250th birthday. This is the occasion to dive into Antoine Bourdelle’s work again as he has been particularly influenced by Beethoven, not only by his music, but also who he was. Considering him as a symbolical fatherly figure, Antoine Bourdelle made 80 sculptures he used to pose next to, like in this beautiful Self-portrait with a hat and Beethoven from 1908.
This hanging tells us about fascination. A wonderful and intense introduction to Antoine Bourdelle.
