Two geniuses. Two precursors, absolute references in their field. Two artists now featured in a double exhibition event in Paris. The Rodin and Picasso museums have joined forces to present a fresh look at the creations of these artists, through the Picasso-Rodin exhibition, on view simultaneously in both museums.
This major exhibition, on view from May 19 to January 2, 2022, reveals the similarities between the two artists, and brings to light a strange and unexpected poetic dialogue.
At the Musée Rodin, the exhibition focuses on representation and new means of expression. The works on display reflect the passions, violence and loves that drive mankind. A gigantic reproduction of Guernica stands opposite Rodin's monumental sculpture La Porte de l'Enfer.
The final room in the Rodin Museum is dedicated to the exploration of the body and sensuality. Between sculptures and paintings, we discover a fascination for the female body, a precise study of the body and its movements, a rereading of certain ancient myths and surprising but perfectly mastered assemblages. Although they probably never met, the works of Picasso and Rodin, brought together in this way, seem to respond to each other and pursue a secret dialogue.
In all, more than 500 works are displayed in the two museums, offering a rich and original experience of two exceptional artists.
