With the arrival of sunny days, Paris is transformed! In turns, the streets of the French capital are covered in spring colors, while flowers bloom over the course of the season. Come along and discover the nicest places to enjoy blooming wisteria, as soon as they flower around mid-April.
In March 2021, Parisians had to mourn the legendary centenary-old wisteria tree that used to lay over the terrace of Le Plumeau restaurant in Montmartre. Fortunately, you can still head not far from the Pink House, in rue de l’Abreuvoir, to enjoy another of these enchanting plants.
To discover the oldest wisteria in Paris, you have to go to the very heart of Paris, on the Île de la Cité. On the façade of the Au Vieux Paris d’Arcole restaurant – an iconic location of Medieval inspiration – discover beautiful purple flowers covering the building. A vision no one can get tired of! Then, head to the Marais, to the rue de Fourcy. In front of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, you will see some wisteria blooming here and there beyond the gate.
An enchanting setting also awaits along the Seine riverbanks, at the Port Debilly in Paris 16th arrondissement. There, standing across the Eiffel Tower, the flowers provide a great background to shoot. Now, head to the Grand Palais, on the Place François 1er where you can admire more of them.
In Paris 13th arrondissement, there is a micro-district aptly named: the Cité Florale – Floral City. This is in this picturesque spot you can discover wisteria evolving in a quiet environment where the Parisian hustle and bustle seems very far. We recommend to make sure you do not disturb the surrounding quietness if you suddenly want to discover this unique place in Paris. And by the 14th arrondissement, there is some wonderful wisteria coloring the rue du Moulin Vert. And last but not least, in Paris 5th arrondissement, the Grande Mosquée de Paris unveils an enchanting and exotic garden where you can indeed enjoy blooming wisteria.
