The Fête des Loges would have been back for its 368th edition held for the greatest pleasure of children and adults. For about two months, numerous popular entertaining and amusing attractions would have taken over the Saint-Germain-en-Laye forest. But this year, because of coronavirus, Saint-Germain mayor has decided to cancel this year's edition.
Mayor Arnaud Péricard explained in a press release he did not "get committment and strong guarantees from the government enabling to sustain the Fête des Loges this year". A decision that does not please carnies who said in a release this Sunday May 31 that no alternative or aid has been granted to help go through the crisis the carny world is experiencing. They added that 170 carny companies for the Fête des Loges "wish the organization of a meeting with all the players of the fair forthwith in order to find solutions together".
Once again this year, over 200 attractions were to will be set up allowing visitors to spend a friendly and casual time through the aisles of the Fête des Loges.
Traditionally, beetween two mouthfuls of toffee apple, waffle or crepe, they will give themselves over to vertigo and thrills. From the ghost train to the Jet roller coaster, via the timeless rifle ranges, there will be something for everyone. Children will go for Hook a Duck, small boats or children rides whereas adults will give themselves over to thrills at the CountDown, the Katapult, the Power Maxxx or the Niagara.
Covering 8 hectares, the Fête des Loges is the most famous funfair in Île de France and one of the biggest in Europe! Last year, millions of people came to have fun at the edge of the Saint-Germain-en-Laye forest.
There is also something else that is great at the Fête des Loges: you have fun of course but you can eat very well too! You should give a go to the Allée des Cuisines where 15 restaurants do battle against each other to get your vote. The unquestioned specialty, the spit-roast suckling pig, is to be tried. You will also find specialties from all over the world: Brazil, America, Alsace, Mexico… the hardest part is to make a choice.
The Brasserie Milot offers you French products only but with a very friendly concept: you roast your meat yourself on a volcanic stone. Treat yourself at Tante Francine, the only Norman restaurant, offering you a ham hock baked in a wood-fired oven which is to die for. At Fred et Chouchou, you will find Auvergne. Averyon cold cuts, and products from Cantal are here for the taking. In a traditional Western atmosphere, the Saloon will make you travel thanks to French, Italian and American dishes… Enjoy the traditional mussels and French fries or the timeless ribs baked in a wood-fired oven…
At the Paillote, relax atmosphere, burgers and kebabs galore are the watchwords. At Brasil Team, festive atmosphere, dinner and a show are a requirement for a complete change of scenery. At Les Patates, a genuine potato festival is served with homemade sauces.
For small sweet treats, you will always find cotton candies, lollypops and donuts to eat to your heart’s content.
