Paris Carnaval Tropical 2022 - Program

Paris Carnival Tropical returns this Sunday July 3, 2022. As it happens every year, music, colors, and dancing take over Paris to make you travel under the sun. Let us enjoy a festive and muy caliente break for a day paced by tropical sounds and dances.

Take your most beautiful costumes out again because Paris Carnaval Tropical is coming back for the 21st edition. On Sunday July 3, 2022, 4,000 dancers and a dozen floats from all over the world will parade on the Champs-Elysées in a festive and exotic ambiance.

As it happens every year since it was created in 2001, bands come and reveal themselves in new choreographies. For this year's edition, the theme is Europe and the 3 oceans. The place of French overseas departments and regions in the EU space was a theme brought up by the carnival associations, given France's 6-month EU presidency in January 2022. This is why groups wanted to give their vision of Europe and their geographic place as they are in the 3 oceans of the world.

More than ever, this year, you shall expect surprises, varied costumes covered in yellow and blue, the EU flag revisited with the overseas colors.

Paris Carnaval Tropical 2022 route:

Open by the Queen elected in late May 2022, the parade will leave from down the Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées, to go all the way up to rue Tilsitt. They will turn back to walk down to the starting point where will stand the jury tribune.

The Paris Carnaval Tropical is undoubtedly the city's biggest festive carnival. Every year, it gathers about 200,000 spectators along a very lively route. Initiated over 20 years ago, this carnival was first held by West Indians from the metropolis, and today, it gathers lots of diverse origins like China, Brazil, England, the Netherlands and Colombia.

Today, what is the Carnaval Tropical? It involves hundreds of colorful costumes coming from lots of places; traditional and exotic music; choreographies created on the occasion giving free rein to bands to mix history and creativity. As well as a contest to elect the King of the Carnival, the Queen-Mother and the Mini-Queen of the Carnaval Tropical Federation.
