In Paris, 2020 is just around the corner and many of you wish to start off 2020 in a fantastic way! This year again, Paris City Hall invites Parisians and tourists on the Champs-Elysées to celebrate the New Year.
While the most beautiful avenue in the world sparkles, the Arc de Triomphe is about to put on a show this Tuesday December 31, 2019. For six years, now, this celebration is a must when it comes to celebrating the New Year in Paris.
But what does the Paris city hall has in store for this new year 2020 facing the Arc de Triomphe? From 11 p.m., a musical pre-show makes you wait before letting you enjoy a light and sound show on the facade of this historic monument. Said to start at 11:40 p.m., this video-mapping show several scenes transforming the Arc de Triomphe before your eyes.
And as midnight strikes, open your eyes wide, after counting down all together, the new year starts off with a firework show. And this is how we welcome 2020 with glory. And now, have a magical year!

The Arc de Triomphe wrapped by Christo postponed to Fall 2021
Christo will wrap the Paris Arc de Triomphe in Fall 2021 only because of the coronavirus epidemic. The monumental work is said to make the Parisian monument disappear under 25,000 sqm of recyclable polypropylene silver and blue fabric and 7,000 m of red rope from Septembre 19 to October, 4 2020, in partnership with Centre Pompidou and the Centre des Monuments Nationaux (National Monuments Center).

Coronavirus: the bicycle lane under the Arc de Triomphe reopens for deconfinement
As deconfinement is upon us, the Tunnel de l'Etoilet is said to reopen to welcome a bike lane under the Arc de Triomphe. This is a study launched to think about the underground spaces set underneath the Place de l’Etoile. The coronavirus epidemic and the necessity to increase the number of bikeways at the end of confinement enabled to speed this project up.
