Paris: why won't the Bras Marie bathing site reopen in 2026?

The Bras Marie bathing site, located in the 4th arrondissement opposite Ile Saint-Louis, will not reopen next year. The Île-de-France prefecture has confirmed this decision, in order to improve river navigation on the Seine. Two new sites are being considered for 2026, at the Pont Louis-Philippe and the Tino-Rossi gardens.

Since July 1, over 75,600 people have taken advantage of the three free bathing sites on the Seine. While the initial closure was scheduled for August 31, the City of Paris is extending the unprecedented operation by a further one to two weeks, depending on the spots. We take stock.
