Paris: why won't the Bras Marie bathing site reopen in 2026?

The Bras Marie bathing site, located in the 4th arrondissement opposite Ile Saint-Louis, will not reopen next year. The Île-de-France prefecture has confirmed this decision, in order to improve river navigation on the Seine. Two new sites are being considered for 2026, at the Pont Louis-Philippe and the Tino-Rossi gardens.

Even though Anne Hidalgo, the mayor of Paris, dived into the Seine to hail the progress of the sanitation work underway, swimming remains banned due to health risks.
