It's a historic date in France. On July 14, 1789, the Revolutionaries took over the Bastille prison in Paris. They brought down one of the symbols of royal power. Every year, communes across France commemorate this day on the Fête Nationale with a series of events, including popular balls, firemen's balls and the traditional fireworks display. Courbevoie is one such town.
Located in the Hauts-de-Seine region, on the left bank of the Seine, the town is known as the headquarters of the Société Nautique de la Basse Seine. The town also hosted the rowing, swimming and water polo events at the 1900 Summer Olympics!
