If you have a dog, don't take it with you to the July 14th fireworks display! Fear of the noise can frighten animals into fleeing or even killing them.

Seeing the July 14th fireworks with your family is ideal! But we strongly advise you not to bring the family dog along. While he can easily attend the other events organized for the national holiday, the noise of the fireworks could frighten him, causing him to run away, but he could also have a cardiac arrest. So it's better to leave him at home than to test his reaction to the fireworks.

Furthermore, if your home is very close to a firework display, it's a good idea tokeep your pet away from it, either by going for a walk on the opposite side of the street, or by staying at home with him to reassure him. Even at home, a dog may panic at the sound of an unusual noise, which it could take as a threat, especially as its hearing is more acute than ours. In the wild, a loud noise is a danger to animals, and even if he's grown up in the city, your dog'sprimitive instinct takes over, driving him to flee to protect himself.

Many pets disappear every year during the fireworks displays that delight humans. If possible, keep your cats indoors during fireworks too. If you must leave them home alone, close your windows and curtains, and turn on the radio or TV to muffle outside noise .
