At the height of summer, France celebrates the Fête Nationale with great pomp every year around July 14th. For the occasion, traditional festivities stretch across the country: from fireworks displays to firemen's balls, fêtes populaires and even military parades, the program promises to be packed! Many towns and cities are marking the occasion, so there's something for everyone to enjoy close to home or their destination. As July 14 is a public holiday, it's an opportunity to make the most of the festive events that await us.
In Paris, the highlights of the Fête Nationale are on the Champs-Elysées, with the military parade , and at the Eiffel Tower, which also lights up with a fireworks display. If the City of Light is the eye-catcher, the rest of the Paris region is no exception. In Essonne, the town of Ballancourt-sur-Essonne, home to the Château de Saussay, is also gearing up for the July 14th celebrations. So what's in store for us this year?
