It's one of the highlights of summer in France. As July 14 approaches, the whole country is in a festive mood, and for good reason: it's Bastille Day! This special day is punctuated by traditional festivities to celebrate the homeland. Fireworks light up the skies all over France, and there are plenty of bals populaires and bals des pompiers to keep the party going.
In Paris, people flock to the Champs Elysées avenue, considered the most beautiful in the world, to watch the famous military parade, while at nightfall the iconic fireworks display from the Eiffel Tower takes center stage. All around the capital, the communes of the Ile-de-France region are also taking part in the festivities, with a wide range of events scheduled for July 13 and 14, 2023.
