Have you ever wondered how the gin tonics you sip with friends on a Saturday night are distilled? Or has the idea of creating your own gin recipe ever crossed your mind? If so, here's a workshop that might just delight you!
Workshops to create your own gin recipe are being organized at the Baccae distillery, located not far from Place de la Bastille, in the 4th arrondissement of Paris! This former restaurant was refurbished as an urban distillery in 2018, and has been producing French spirits ever since - mainly gin, but also abstinthe!
The program for this workshop, priced at €65 per person, includes a tour of the distillery, an introduction to gin, and the creation of your own bespoke gin... all interspersed with a tasting of 2 cocktails made with Baccae's signature spirits, to make for a great evening. And of course, at the end of this 2h30 workshop, you'll go home with a 200mL bottle of your very own gin!
The makingof a gin recipe is quite an art, and is subject to certain rules, such as the very standardized proportion of juniper and coriander. Don't panic, the Baccae team is here to give you all the advice you need to create the perfect recipe to suit your tastes and desires!
Do you prefer citrus-flavored gin? Spicy gin? Herbaceous gin? From the thirty or so organic botanicals available on the tables, sniff, gauge, weigh and test in harmony with your tablemates - generally 3 or 4 people per team - before sending everything off to production!
Then it's off to contemplate the spectacle played out in the machines, and the drops falling little by little into the stills, before tasting your creation, neat or in a cocktail, and leaving with it under your arm.
