Over 9,800 new coronavirus cases have been reported over the past 24 hours, Santé publique France has announced on Thursday September 10. Yet, this increase incases has not been caused by increasing tests (remaining stable in comparison with the week before), but by an increasing positivity rate.
There are more and more sick as days go by. The positive test rate shows so: in Week 36, the rate is estimated at 5.2%, as it was 4.3% the week before, naming a 19% increase.
Even though positivity rate is one of the rates to monitor because it is worrying for the number of people tested as part of a screen test campaign increases, and about half of people positive (47.3%) show no symptom and were more likely to spread COVID-19 to people around them.
Especially as the positivity rate was over 5% in 23 departments in mainland France. The highest ones were reported in Bouches-du-Rhône (8.5%), Gironde (8.2%), Val-de-Marne (8.1%), Rhône (8.1%), Seine-Saint-Denis (7.4%), Paris (7.2%), and Alpes Maritimes (7.2%).
For the record, 28 departments have been listed as “virus’ active circulation area” in France.
