Covid vaccine: Moderna approved in the USA, still waiting to be approved in the EU

Pharmaceutical group Moderna Therapeutics has announced they applied for EU and US approval after confirming their covid vaccine is effective. This Friday December 18, 2020, the FDA has approved the vaccine the day after a committee of American experts delivered a positive endorsement.

A new step in the arrival of the Covid vaccine… Pharmaceutical company Moderna Therapeutics announced to have applied as the vaccine has successfully passed the 3rd phase of the clinical trials. So far, the group applied for US and EU approval.

Full results of the vaccine have been released recently, showing it was 94.1% effective. As recalled by Reuters: “Of the 196 people who contracted COVID-19 out of over 30,000 trial volunteers, 185 had received a placebo and 11 the vaccine”, enabling to get these results. Note that no serious concerns have been diagnosed in the group that has been vaccinated for real.

But before issuing the vaccine, the United States Food & Drugs Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) are to approve the vaccine by proof-reading reports provided with the application. As for Europe, answer as for the issuance of the product is expected by the year’s end, to vaccinate the most fragile people on the go.

After the Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine, this Friday December 18, 2020 the FDA has approved Moderna vaccine in the country, right after being given a positive endorsement from a committee of American experts. It is said to begin being inoculated in the next couple of days, the government has already pre-bought 200 million doses (against 100 million of the Pfizer vaccine).
