This Wednesday February 3, Deputy Minister for Industry Agnès Pannier-Runacher announced that in addition to deliveries scheduled already, Moderna Covid vaccine will be manufactured in France by a subcontractor. Production is to start “in March”.

Covid vaccine soon to be manufactured in France… This is what explains Deputy Minister for Industry Agnès Pannier-Runacher this Wednesday February 3 on RTL, saying a subcontractor is set to begin “in March” producing Moderna vaccine. As for the subcontract, it is no other than Recipharm, a Swedish pharmaceutical company that is entrusted with manufacturing doses on the French territory.

The minister also explained that Pfizer vaccine will be manufactured in France as well “in April”, by Delpharm – a French pharmaceutical subcontracting company. The statement echoes Sanofi’s made on January 26, as they also said they want to help the American group manufacturing their vaccine in Europe. Note that a few days later, Swiss laboratory Novartis made the same declaration.

For the record, on Tuesday February 2, French President Macron announced the manufacturing of the vaccine will begin “by late February, early March” in four production sites in France. Among these sites, threes are French subcontractors, as told by our peers from BFMTV.
