The Easter egg hunt is a tradition deeply rooted in Easter celebrations, symbolizing renewal and fertility. Historically, the egg is a universal emblem of new life, a meaning that became part of the Christian festivities of Easter, commemorating Christ's resurrection. During the Middle Ages, the Church forbade the consumption of eggs during Lent, so those laid during this period were preserved, decorated and offered at Easter.
In Paris and the Île-de-France region, this egg-hunting custom is particularly popular. So, every year, numerous events are organized to enable children and families to take part in fun-filled egg hunts, with hunts planned in the open air, others covered, and activities in castles, museums... And there's a whole host of not-to-be-missed ideas for the occasion!
In the Yvelines department, we're off to Rambouillet, at the town's equestrian center and pony club, for a special Easter day on Sunday April 20, 2025.
Admission is free and open to all, so enjoy the egg hunt!
